Wednesday 24th November – bike **** – Around Felixstowe including lunch at Levington Marina – Grey, gloomy day with light winds.

The lovely sunshine from yesterday had disappeared sadly today but with light winds we decided to get out on our bikes taking lunch to Levington Marina. So, after a morning at home me exercises while Mag spent a little time in the garden but there is not much to do out there now. Having a frost this morning it was a tad nippy so Mag heated up some delicious potato and leek soup, wrapped up we left home just after midday. It was a ride of Autumn colours which were lovely even in the grey gloom as we took the footpath by the side of the cemetery spotting two jays. Around the back of the academy then over the gate past the new gun club down to Grimstone Lane leading to our favourite tree lined route to Loompit lake, nice and quiet with the path a bed of multi coloured leaves, just lovely:) At Loompit Lake which was covered in birds, loads of swan, coots, tufted and shoveller ducks where we stopped to talk to a fly fisherman who had just lost a trout but had already caught one which was sadly dead on the bank, that’s his supper tonight! There was some more fisherman out in a boat who was landing a trout while we watched! Then round to our seat at the windsurf launch spot with a couple of yachts out on the Orwell but the wind was very light. The soup was yummy but it was too nippy to sit too long so we headed for home, taking the inland route back through the fields, sadly no deer were seen, but saw a few squirrels. So, a nice afternoon out enjoying the best of Suffolk, looking lovely even in the gloom, with wind coming but it might be too cold to get out windsurfing so might have to wait for things to warm up!
